William K. Turner is a Florida ceramic artist specializing in raku pottery. Born in Miami, he studied ceramics at Northeast Louisiana University before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of South Florida in 1983, where he focused on raku and salt-glaze firing.
Through his company, Raku Art Inc., William creates ceramic forms that serve as canvases for his distinctive finishes. He developed a copper matte raku glaze used by ceramic artists around the world, and his work is represented in galleries throughout the United States.
His creative exploration also includes Kaleido-Tiles, a collection of three-dimensional ceramic tile patterns featured in a solo exhibition at the University of South Florida’s Centre Gallery in 1986.
