Dennis Heckler

A native of Buffalo, New York, Dennis began drawing at a very early age. Though he grew up in a large, gritty city that fascinated him, he was also exposed to country living on his grandparents’ farm. These experiences drew him to the rhythm of country roads and the spectacular mountain and coastal vistas he explored as a teenager hiking between New York state, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Dennis fell in love with American landscapes, the country houses that dotted them and the play of light on rooftops, trees, water and rock formations.

In the late 1980s, as computers began to replace human-inspired and human-created graphics and illustrations, Dennis began thinking more seriously about painting. His affinity for landscapes drew him originally to the works of the Impressionists, particularly the paintings of the early California Impressionists. It’s no surprise that his art education included workshops by Lois Griffel, now a Master Signature Artist of the American Impressionist Society, and Brian Stewart, Signature Member of the exclusive Plein Air Painters of America.

Today Dennis expresses his passion for the outdoors painting landscapes and rural settings that capture the moment. With a palette knife, he executes oils in bold strokes and brilliant color. Dennis is also in demand by collectors for his vibrant, contemporary watercolors.

The winner of numerous Best of Show awards, Dennis’s paintings have also drawn accolades on a national and international level.
His work has been recognized by the Oil Painters of America (OPA), the National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society (NOAPS).
His art is in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Europe.
