About the Artist
Blenko Glass Company is an American glassmaker based in Milton, West Virginia, celebrated for colorful, handcrafted glass. Its roots trace to English glass craftsman William John Blenko, who came to the United States in 1893. He established the Milton operation in 1921, initially producing glass for stained-glass windows.
The company expanded into handblown decorative and functional glassware, developing a distinctive tradition of expressive forms and vibrant color. Its collection includes vases, bowls, drinking glasses, ornaments, and the signature double-spout water bottle, introduced in 1938 and still in production.
Blenko’s work has appeared in exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, and the company produced historic glass reproductions for Colonial Williamsburg. Today, Blenko continues its tradition of American craftsmanship, bringing together skilled glassmaking, artistic design, and objects made to be enjoyed in everyday life.
